Criw Niwbwrch Cyf: It was with great pleasure that the company which runs "Eglwys Bach" and other groups within Newborough was recognised for its provision of facilities, services and support to the community, when a representative attended, by invitation, the Service of Thanksgiving to note the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at Bangor Cathedral on Saturday 25th February.

Rhosyr Community Council: At the monthly meeting, the Community Council agreed to support the local community by making donations to groups including the following: Niwbwrch Allotments to enable the group to improve the site's water supply; Criw Niwbwrch Cyf to continue to provide facilities for local residents; Parc y Plant to pay towards insurance costs and Llanddwyn, Newborough WI, to help pay for transport costs on educational visits. These groups wish to make known their gratitude for the financial help.

Clwb Iaith Pawb Niwbwrch; Last Wednesday, the audience greatly enjoyed an amusing and illuminating insight into the world of cinema, TV and radio when John Pierce Jones, local resident and well known Welsh TV actor and writer reminisced about his experiences. He spoke of the influence of films viewed at Eglwys Bach when he was a young boy, the encouragement of two school teachers and the realisation of his childhood dreams of acting. February's meeting on 22nd will include a talk by Alastair Moralee on the Conservation of Malltraeth Marsh. Watch this column for details nearer the date.
